All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier. The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet. Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to the gang, to a dangerous world of sex, lust and violence. A world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission. |
Hot is such a poor adjective to describe the Beyond series because it's so much more then that. It's sizzling-need-a-fan-while-reading-hot, gritty, dark, unbelievable and I totally want to be a member of the O'Kane gang after reading it. Those O'Kane men are all Alpha all the time, yet when a little bit of vulnerability sneaks through their tough guy act it's enough to melt your heart.
Beyond Shame is a great introduction to the world in Sector Four. Noelle Cunningham has been disowned by her father who is a councilman and thrown into the sectors. She literally falls at Jasper's feet (from exhaustion and hunger) and her life isn't the same after that. He takes her under his wing, and is introduced to the O'Kane gang. She becomes more then just friends with Lex, who holds the trust of Dallas O'Kane the leader of the gang and Sector Four. What happens between the four of them is just well, hotness!
It was wonderful to watch Noelle turn from someone who was afraid of her sexuality, unsure of her place in the world to someone who knew what she wanted. She was innocent and not so innocent at the same time. I loved how she connected to everyone in the gang differently. Jasper was a perfect match for her, and I loved how he was all tough and yet gentle at the same time.
The secondary characters in this book became immediate members of my book family. There is Bren, Ace, Dallas, Lex, Rachel and so many others that you just wanted to give a great big hug to. There are so many different POV changes from these characters that it should not have worked, but it did.
I devoured this book and I have no idea how I haven't read anything by the team that is Moira Rogers before! This is not for the faint of heart, but if you are looking for something that is a bit different, gritty and want to go on an adventure in hotness, then look no further then Sector Four!
