Please help me welcome to the party one of my favorite Urban Fantasy writers, Sierra Dean!! Her Secret McQueen series is one of my favorite series. It has a great love triangle, lots of action and always has a great ending that leaves you wanting the next book a.s.a.p. Sierra's characters are here to talk about the series. :)
Secret, can you tell us about your job and about the series?
Which job? It seems like every time I turn around I'm being saddled with a new one. My first job, and the one I miss most, was being a bounty hunter for the vampire council. Of course, that was a bit of a misnomer. Calling me a bounty hunter implies I was paid to bring rogues back alive. In reality what I brought back could have fit in a coffee can. But "assassin" doesn't sound quite as official. Then after a bit of a beheading incident I got upgraded, so now I'm actually one of the big bad council leaders, sitting on the Tribunal itself. Sounds fancy? Not so much. It's a pain in the ass in more ways than one.
As for the series... you mean the series of events that are the never-ending drama of my life? Well, let's just say things aren't mellowing out any time soon.
Desmond, how does it feel to have readers everywhere love you?
Umm... weird? It's flattering, I guess. I've grown up playing the sidekick part, so it's strange to me that people are noticing me instead of Lucas for once. I swear I'm not trying to make anyone love me. Well, that's not true. I only need one person to love me, that's tricky enough to keep me busy.
But I appreciate it. It's nice to be loved for being yourself. So thanks, ladies.
Secret, does it bother you that everyone loves your guys so much?
It would be pretty petty of me to get jealous, considering the boys have to deal with sharing me. That said, if anyone so much as puts one wandering paw on one of my guys... *hard stare*
Sig, what is the thing you love best about Secret?
Her spirit. Certainly, most people who have faced the life Secret has would crumble under the weight of it. She stumbles, sometimes, but she does not let herself get destroyed by hardship. Strength is in her blood.
Holden, if you could give Secret some advice, what would it be?
Keep your promises.
Lucas, what's the one thing that drives you crazy about Secret?
Oh, sorry, I thought this was an interview and not a novel-writing seminar. *smirks* I mean, what doesn't drive me crazy about Secret? She's stubborn, she's headstrong, she's independent when she should take the help being offered, she too snarky for her own good. But, on the other hand, she drives me crazy in different ways. She's beautiful, she's magnetic, and she's strong enough to hold her own in my world. She never ceases to amaze me.
Desmond, What's the best trait of Lucas and Secret?
I've known Lucas most of my life, and could spend hours telling you what a great guy he is. I may get mad at him for the decisions he makes, but what people fail to understand about Lucas is that he is always going to be a king, first and foremost. Everything else will be secondary to that role for him. And it's not about a power trip for him, he doesn't wear the mantle lightly. They say, "heavy is the head that wears the crown." With Lucas that's probably an unspoken motto. He suffers for his people, and he sacrifices things in his life to make hard decisions. People don't see everything he does.
And Secret... *smiles* Her best trait? When she lets down all those walls she's built around herself and just lets me see the girl inside. That's the girl I love. Not the badass bounty hunter, not the soul-bonded mate either. Just the girl who likes old movies and wishes she could see the sun. That's my girl.
