Sherry is a full time writer from Colorado where she lives with her husband, four kids, two dogs, and a fluctuating number of chickens and house guests. A former military brat, she loves to travel and meet new people. She can often be found browsing her local bookstore with a large white hot chocolate in one hand and a towering stack of books in the other. That is, unless she's on deadline at which time she, like the Loch Ness monster, is often only seen in blurry photographs.
Her teen fantasy series, The Gods of Fate trilogy, is forthcoming from Dragonfly Publishing. Book 1, Foresight, is now available. She also has a teen mystery series under contact with Accomplice Press. The first of that series, Military Brats: Afterburn will be available Spring 2011.

Sherry, can you tell us a little bit about Foresight?
Foresight is the first book in the Gods of Fate trilogy. It’s the story of Grace Archer, a young woman who discovers her mother was Pandora and it has fallen to Grace to protect her mother’s deadly box from a goddess determined to use it.
What makes Foresight different from other YA books out there?
It’s a modern take on a Classic Greek myth, but with a unique spin. Similar to Percy Jackson, only for an older (teen-adult) audience and told from a female POV. I really wanted to create a modern fantasy with a strong female taking the lead.
What made you decide to focus on Greek mythology in Foresight?
I’ve always loved mythology. I love those sort of timeless tales of heroes and monsters. I really wanted to bring a story like that to life.
Have you always been interested in Greek Mythology?
Oh yeah. I grew up on the classic Greek writers like Virgil and Homer, even Aesop. I just devoured the stories. I guess they really stuck with me.
Do you have a favorite Greek God, if so who?
I think my favorite was always Eros (Cupid). I loved the tale of Eros and Psyche. So tragic and romantic. It’s sort of a good example of how easy it is to screw up a relationship and how hard it is to repair one.
Have there been any authors or books that have inspired you?
I think everything I read inspires me in some way. Every time I read a book, a piece of it stays with me.

Book 2 in the Gods of Fate trilogy, Second Sight, will be out spring 2011. I also have a new teen novel, Military Brats: After Burn, which will be coming out in January 2011. It’s sort of a throwback to the classic Nancy Drew novels, but for modern teens.
Do you have any favorite YA authors? If so, who?
Right now I’m totally in love with Bree Despain and Cassandra Claire. I also really enjoy Lili St. Crow.
