#1 in the Sons of Navarus series

What made you decide on New Orleans as a setting for Blood Avenged?

Vasilije is pure hedonism, so I thought, "What better place to put him than the most hedonistic city in America?"  Also, I knew I was going to New Orleans for Halloween, so I knew I could take advantage of on site research while I was there.  I love when that can happen.  Every scene and location in New Orleans was one I personally visited and spent time in, and I think it comes out in the feel of the book.

What do you like most about Vasilije and Sasa as a couple?

I love how he is so mesmerizing to her and how she's so stabilizing to him.  Sasa has never met anyone like Vasilije, and his sensuality brings out something really fantastic in her.  She's spent a lifetime feeling plain, but with him, she's a goddess.  I love that!  And Sasa is so grounding for Vasilije, who tends to take enjoying life to the extreme.  She brings out the sweet side of him that no one sees, and that just makes him even sexier.

Do you have a favorite moment of the two of them together?

I really like the scene when she awakes as a vampire.  For the first time in the story, he can share with her that moment that occurs between a sire and his vampire, which is very sensual.

If you could have a playlist for Blood Avenged, what would it be?

I have pretty eclectic tastes, but here goes:

Shoot To Thrill-AC DC
Rolling In The Deep-Adele
At Last-Etta James
Crazy-Patsy Cline
Bring It On Home-Led Zeppelin
Need You Now-Lady Antebellum

Do you have any authors who are must reads for you in the erotica genre? If so, who are they?

My one must-read is Charlotte Featherstone.  I love her work!  She has such a wonderful way of making even the simplest scene blossom into something so incredibly sexy.

I saw that Vasilje was the villain of a previous book, what made you decide to write him as a hero for this one?

I fell in love with Vasilije when he first appeared in Vampire Dreams.  I find characters who are so comfortable with their sexuality very appealing.  I had intended on writing him a story, but when Vampire Dreams came out, readers began asking when it would occur and I knew I had something there with him.  I set to work on it and very quickly I realized that he was far more hero than bad guy, so from that the idea for the rest of Blood Avenged evolved and eventually became that book and the series, the Sons of Navarus.

What can we expect for the next two books in the series?

The next two books, Blood Betrayed and Blood Spirit, are Saint's and Terek's books.  Both will give readers more about these two characters and more about the war that's begun between them and the Archons.  Readers will also find out more about the vampire world they live in, which has been a lot of fun to write.

What upcoming projects do you have that you can tell us about?

Blood Betrayed is just about finished, and I'll be releasing that in May.  Then I'll be working on Blood Spirit for its fall release.  Both Saint and Terek are quite different from Vasilije, so I'm enjoying each of their stories.  Saint is a haunted soul, so his book has been exhausting at times for me to read because it's far more emotional than I'm used to writing.  And Terek, who I've just begun really plotting out, is quite sensual, but not like Vasilije.  As a former monk turned to a vampire in the early 1300s, Terek has a way about him that draws others to him.  One of the older Sons, he's sired thousands of vampires, and they're totally devoted to him, especially the women.  His time with the Arab trader who turned him has left a strong impression on him, making him very different than the others in the Sons of Navarus.

What is your favorite comfort read?

Lust by Charlotte Featherstone.  I can read that a million times and still love it!
