Series Review: The Great Wolves of Passion Books 1-6 by Kiera West

You know those times when you just need a break from full length novels and want something fun and hot? I was in one of those moods, and took a chance on this series. I bought book one on a Sunday afternoon, and flew through it. I quickly devoured the next four in quick succession. The best part of these books, while they are a little high in price for the length of the novel, I feel like I got my money's worth because each one is hotter then the next and I felt like the stories were really well developed and that we got to see a lot of character development with each novella.

Scientist and veterinarian Eve MacMillan loves wolves. She’s been studying them most her life. When she gets the opportunity to study on a private reserve in Alaska, she jumps at the chance. Four months into her year of research, she is as fascinated with the Dillon cousins as she is her wolves. All six Dillon cousins know that she is their mate. And for four long months they have waited to take the final step. After their Alpha, Noah, seduces her, they tell her they want to share her. Overwhelmed by the passion they inspire, Eve lets her inhibitions dissolve. Then an unknown enemy ramps up his attacks, and Eve discovers her lovers are more than just men when one of the pack is left fighting for his life.

This was a great introduction to the series. We get to meet all of the key players in the series, but the story itself focuses on Eve and Noah.  Going into this book I had no idea if an M/F/M/M/M/M/M would work. But you know what it did? Each of the guys treat Eve with respect and work hard to bring her out of her shell. I loved watching Eve grow in this book. She can't believe that the guys all find her so hot, and is a little stunned by their attention. Eve is one of my favorite erotic/paranormal heroines. She has all of my favorite traits: she's tough, independent, witty and can hold her own against the guys. The sex scenes are smokin' hot, and I liked how she mainly spent time with Noah. It wasn't a Menage every single time. :)

I think what surprised me the most, was how much I enjoyed the beginning of the mystery of who was killing the wolves. I liked it because while the love scenes were hot-there was a little bdsm, there was something outside of the bedroom to keep my interest as well. This was just a great intro to the series.

Scientist Eve MacMillan might have bitten off more than she can chew. She has taken on six lovers, all of whom happen to be werewolves. Worse, there is now someone out to get them. Ethan is still recovering from his attack when his brother, Noah, the alpha, makes it clear that he wants Eve. But, she feels him pulling away from her outside of it. Noah knows he’s made some mistakes. He hasn’t been paying attention to security like he should. His preoccupation with their mate has left them exposed and his brother fighting for his life. It hurts to ignore Eve, but he has to do it for the good of the pack. Eve knows exactly why he’s pulled away, but now that she realizes her feelings for Noah go beyond lust, this is one woman who is going to teach the leader of the pack a thing or two about love.

I loved watch Noah fall hard for Eve!  This book revolves mostly around Eve and Noah again, although we see and know more of the Dillons, primary Ethan, in this one. Noah is struggling between his duty of Alpha and his feelings for Eve. He feels responsible for the person going after the wolves being able to harm them, and tries to put a distance between him and Eve. However, Eve won't have any of it. I loved it. Eve is still dealing with the situation of having feelings for the Dillons, and she lets Noah know that she isn't happy that he is creating distance between them. I loved how Eve feels more comfortable with the boys and shows more of her personality. She totally lets Noah have it and I loved it! The sex scenes were still super hot, but I loved the tension between Noah and Eve and the deepening mystery.

The pov switches every now and then to the villain, and normally that annoys the heck out of me because I feel like villains should be seen but not heard, lol. However in this series it totally works. I think it works because while we get the villains pov, the reader still doesn't know who they are and what their motives are behind everything.

This one ends with a major cliffhanger, and I was so glad I waited to read this series because I immediately went and bought number three.

Ethan has been in love with Eve since he met her. He knows that she is their mate. Still, he feels drawn to her mind as much as her sexy, curvy body. Since she is the one who nursed him back to health after his attack, he thinks that her feelings spring from saving his life. But, for him, that is enough. As Eve works side by side with Ethan, she finds a kindred spirit. He respects her mind and understands the way she thinks. It doesn't hurt that he seems to know what she needs even before she does. She knows he thinks she doesn't love him, and Eve decides to pull out all the stops to prove to the stubborn wolf she truly loves him. But, someone is still bent on attacking the pack, and as the violence escalates, Eve and the Dillons find they have no one to trust but each other.

I read this in line while waiting to vote!! Gotta love living in a democracy. I think everyone in line was jealous that I had thought ahead and brought my kindle fire with me! I didn't think I would like any of the Dillons more then Noah, but Ethan proved me wrong. I loved how out of all of the guys, he is the one who understands the scientist in her the best. I loved how they spent time in the lab working together, and watching him fall for Eve and her struggle with loving more then one guy was sweet. The mystery also kicks it up a notch in this book. Ethan just won me over, and I was impressed with how Eve gets Ethan as much as he gets her.

The only problem I had with this book was that out of all of the ones in the series, it was the one that had the most editing mistakes. I normally don't catch mistakes, but there were a couple of times where Eve was obviously thinking about Ethan and instead of Ethan's name Noah's was used. It just threw me off a bit-especially because I didn't notice any editing flaws like this one in any of the other books.

Shane has always been the joker of the Dillon clan, but he does it to hide the scars from his childhood. He has never shared what the years away from the pack with his mentally unstable mother were like. As he starts to fall in love with Eve, he finds himself unable to ignore the nightmares that haunt his nights. Eve has always sensed there is more to Shane than he shows the world. As she tries to find out what lies beneath the surface, she sees the dimensions of his personality and attempts to help him deal with the wounds that resurface. But an argument leaves them at odds, and Eve in the path of danger.

I just love how different all of the guys are from each other, and how they each love Eve in their own way.  I really didn't think I could like a Dillon more then Ethan or Noah, but I was wrong. I adored Shane. He has some serious issues to work out, and I loved how Eve didn't let him get away with hiding them and encouraged him to open up to her. Out of all the guys Shane realized that Eve needed a little romance, and not just sex all the time and made sure that she got it.

I love how in this series it focuses on one of the Dillons and Eve, but at the same time we get to know all of them a little better and new characters are brought in and just add to the story. The Redfoots who are bear shifters totally won me over in this book. They love watching the Dillons fall hard for Eve and giving them a hard time about it. I would love for them to have their own series! I also love the Dillon extended family and how they are there for Eve and try to help her understand while the situation isn't exactly normal, it does happen at least once a generation.   The mystery of who is hurting the wolves and out to get the Dillons continues to grow, and instead of getting old had a few twists I didn't see coming in this book. The villain is wonderfully evil., but I like how the mystery doesn't take away from the romance being told and just adds to it.

Title:  Rand's Craving

Eve hasn’t spent much time with Rand outside of the bedroom. And definitely not alone. But, with the violence against the wolf population growing, they investigate the issues together. With each day out, they grow closer, but she knows Rand is holding something back.Rand has wanted Eve since the first moment he scented her. He has held back some of his true sexual nature because he worries she might freak out. Spending more time with her is making it hard to ignore his baser needs. And he has to keep his head screwed on straight. He has to protect her not only from himself, but from the violent villain who now seems focused on destroying her.

Out of all the Dillons, Rand is the one who I felt the least connection with, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this novella. I really didn't need to worry though because this one was just as good as the other ones were. While Rand is not my favorite Dillon, I loved his story. He is having perhaps the hardest time dealing with his feelings for Eve. He cares for her a lot, but knows his Alpha loves him, and isn't sure he can be himself around Eve because he likes to be more dominate then what he thinks is normal for someone who isn't an Alpha. In this book we get a little more BDSM, and I have to admit I liked it. What I liked most about the BDSM in these novels is that isn't anything too graphic, but it just adds to the heat level of the sex scenes.

By this time all the secondary characters and the extended Dillon family have become good book friends and I love their appearances! Most of all though, I love the changes that have occurred in Eve from book one.  In that book she was shy and quiet, and not really sure of her place with in the Dillon family. In this book, she is no longer shy and quiet and I love it when she puts down her foot and doesn't let the guys get away with anything. I love how she let Rand know that he was just as important to her as the others were, and that when they were alone he could be himself with her, and not worry what the others thought. There were a lot of sweet scenes in this book. I just love how each Dillon worms his way into my heart! I am also really surprised at how much Eve grows on me in each book. She's independent, tough, smart, yet at the same time vulnerable. She knows the guys are hiding something major from her, and doesn't like it that they won't tell her what it is.

Jason has always been the quiet Dillon, and has grown more so after recent events. In one of the attacks, he was knocked unconscious, and now he is having memory lapses.
He wakes up in odd places with no memory of how he got there.Eve knows that something is bothering Jason. The once kind and gentle man has grown more distant. Worse, he refuses to stay with her overnight. She had grown used to his dry sense of humor and even come to appreciate. It is one of the things that helped her fall so completely in love with him. With danger closing in on them, she pushes things a little too far, and the result could change the pack forever.

Little did I know when I started this series that I picked a great time to do it, because book six in the series was just released this week! Woohoo! The downside? I will probably have to wait another year for Max's story, and I just don't know how I'll do it. I loved this installment! It was told primarily from Jason's pov, and I really liked that. I also really liked seeing how much Eve has come into her own person over the course of the series. When she gets pissed at the boys, she's not afraid to let them know, and it was great fun to watch.

I also love the secondary characters in this series. The Redfoots, which are the bear shifters have become an integral part of the mystery, which deepens with this book and I would love and I am LOVE for them to have a spin off series. This series is just a lot of hot fun! I highly recommend it and can not wait for Max's book-book 7 to come out!!
