Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it. In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

This series is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series. It has a little bit of everything: A kick ass heroine, a  drool worthy alpha male that makes you go all tingly, and secondary characters that make you laugh out loud-a lot.

One of the things I love about the series is how instead of focusing on Charley focusing on fighting the bad guys, there are always two mysteries to be solved, along with Charley learning more about the mystery of what she is, family drama and Charley's relationship between her friends, Cookie and Swopes. However, for me those things are all just added bonuses because what I love most about this series is Charley's relationship with a certain alpha male named Reyes. Oh La La.

Reyes is one of my favorite alpha males. He has all the right ingredients-he has a bit of an ego, is trying to do the right thing, but being the Son of Satan makes that a bit hard, and will do anything to protect Charley. I'm not sure what it is exactly that makes me love him so much, but I do. In this book, as  Ally from Within Dreams We Live, told me over twitter we finally get to see more of his personality. In the first three books, we just got brief glimpses of him, but in this book he's around a lot more. I like how he helps Charley deal with stuff from events in the last book, and tries to protect her from forces that are out to get her. He just makes me sigh a lot.

There is a lot that happens in this book but I don't want to go into too much detail and spoil it for those who haven't read it yet. I remember finishing this book and thinking that it wasn't quite as good as the others in the series, but for the life of me I can't remember why I thought that now. I'm just blaming it on the fact that I read it while not feeling so good. The one thing small problem I remember having was I thought it was weird that while Reyes and Charley were in the middle of a very hot scene, she's describing him kissing her breast, only she calls her breast by the one of the names she has given them. I have to say it threw me off a bit, and took me a moment to remember that she had named her breasts and that's why she was saying that.

I have to say that this series never fails to amaze me, and this book catapulted Reyes into the top five book on my boyfriends list.  A big thank you to Ally from Within Dreams We Live, Julie from Yummy Men & Kick Ass Chicks and Marcela from The Bookaholic Cat who were  my go to girls to talk about all things Reyes!
